100,000! Woo-hoo!

I drive a lot. I’ve mentioned it before … a few times. My car accrues quite a number of miles every month. I got it used about three years ago with 15,000 miles. Last week, my road-trip machine hit 100,000. I took a picture.

A good friend of mine took a similar picture when his car hit 100K. His car was legendary among our friends from high school through college (it wasn’t just a Maxima, it was
the Maxima). It drove across the U.S. at least four times, from NYC to Santa Fe to Seattle, down the Pacific Coast and back. When he moved to the East Coast, he had to sell it, but before he did I bought his bike rack. Upon strapping it to the top of my car, I envisioned it as a passing of the torch. My car hasn’t gone quite the distance across country as the golden chariot, but it’s getting there.

Just after I took the photo, the engine light went on. Um … guess it needs its 100,000 mile check up. I’m banking on it going another 100,000 miles before retirement.
