My weekend: Martial arts test, post-marital-arts-test potluck, swim meet and the Nutcracker. Maybe some sleep, but I doubt it.

High Flying Santa —Who needs reindeer when there’re hot air balloons? Really. Santa will be showing off his high flying skills at the Anderson-Abruzzo International Balloon Museum on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with tethered balloon rides, photos with Santa in a balloon gondola, live music, hot chocolate and the results of the First Annual Gingerbread House and Balloon Contest. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, $2 for children ages 4-12 and free for children 3 and under.

I love Alpacas Albuquerque Alpacas wants you to come visit their new baby alpacas and see what it takes to raise the unique and gentle creatures. They’ll be hosting an open house on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9 and 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children welcome but leave the dogs at home.

Trunk Show Mariposa Gallery is having a truck show on Sunday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can get great gifts (or add to your collection) made by local artist Joie Villeneuve. See whimsical furniture, mirrors, and boxes, and meet the artist while you’re there.
