On a recent trip to Edmonton, I pounced on the chance to ask real, live Canadians about their homeland. What’s more, these aren’t any regular old Canadians, they’re improvisers; comedians contributing to one of the finest traditions and exports of the nation. All four Canucks were asked, "What does Canada mean to you ?" Find out what they say below, eh?
Dave Morris , North Vancouver, British Columbia"Support and taking care of people. And redundancy."
Marjorie Malpass , Vancouver, British Columbia"To me Canada is geography. So much land, so few people and we are shaped culturally by our environment; open Albertans like the big sky, laid-back Vancouverites hanging by the ocean, tough windswept Nova Scotians, sexy smoking Montrealites, sharp Torontonians. We are where we live and I have been everywhere …"
Kevin Gillese , Edmonton, Alberta"Canada is a nation with no self-esteem. We’re like the kid who got picked on in school. We’re smart, and funny in a Monty Python kind of way, but fuck if don’t we have an inferiority complex."
Tazvan Rassel , Vancouver, British Columbia"Canada means a sense of community that stretches nationwide. For me, wherever I go I can find a friend in a fellow Canadian. God save our land!"
