I scare easily. I’m unnerved by ghost stories. I refuse to watch horror movies. I won’t read thrillers. I don’t like pictures of dead things–be it an archaeologist’s photograph of a mummy or a rendering of a zombie (the Survival Guide freaked me out). Ultimately, I’m a wuss.Yet, despite my skittish nature, I’m fascinated by these pictures of bog people (click here to find out more about bog bodies). I’m sure much of my interest is due to the artful way these ancient bodies have been captured, but I’m still surprised my first instinct isn’t to scramble to close the screen the second these strangely lovely images appear. I figured anything this cool has to be shared. So enjoy–and I hope neither you nor I have nightmares.
