Wow, wow, wowza! You Burque event planners were busy getting this weekend together. On top of the usual, I have quite a few events to fill out your schedule. Here is goes!

Battle of the Bands —Starting at 4 p.m., local bands take over the KiMo for a Battle of the Bands! Tickets are just $5 for adults and kids 12-and-under are free. (And why you’re Downtown, why not hit up the Go Arts Festival?)

Duke City Improv Festival —The Box Performance Space offers up a weekend of improv awesomeness with shows tonight and tomorrow at 7, 8 and 9:30 p.m. and Wowie Ka Bowzo at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are just $5 per show or $15 for the whole weekend.

Napa vs. Sonoma Whole Foods Market (5815 Wyoming NE) hosts this wine tasting event from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. comparing wines from these two distinct regions (Napa Valley Wine Country and Sonoma Wine Country). But, space is limited and it’s $15 per person, so call quick (856-0474) if you want in.

Lobo Scrimmage —For baseball fans, head to Isotopes Park on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a scrimmage between current UNM Lobo players and alums as part of Homecoming festivities. It’s free and open to everyone!

Albuquerque Alpacas Open Ranch Days —Learn about owning and breeding alpacas on Saturday and/or Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 9721 Guadalupe NW. You can even register to win some alpaca socks!
