Mediterranean Cafe Loves Music

For all budding Albuquerque musicians seeking a venue substantially more hospitable than the smattering of open mics occasionally hosted by various establishments around town, I urge you to stop by the Mediterranean Cafe (513 San Mateo Blvd NE 255-5244) for an exotic and sumptuous meal of Greek or Moroccan cuisine (I can personally recommend the Tangine of Lamb with Honey, which is finished with stewed apricots, prunes and almonds and paired with a bed of seasoned rice and vegetables – exquisite), and book yourself a gig with owner-proprietor Bijan Mowzoun, a genuine music lover and a true gentleman. It is likely that his refusal on religious grounds to obtain a liquor license for his establishment has cost him some business, but the generosity with which he receives, supports and encourages local musicians should not go unnoticed or unrewarded.
