Personally, I’ll be glued to the TV this weekend to see Michael Phelps snag eight gold medals in Beijing. He’s going to do it, mark my words. (And then Speedo will give him a million bucks). Go Phelps, go!

Local band Sector 5 teams up with Zagadka, Small Flightless Birds and Nose Whistler tonight for "Vagina Madness," a night of music, caffeine and v-related hygiene products. The all-ages show starts at 7 p.m. at Winnings Coffee (111 Harvard SE) and costs $4.

Team Albuquerque didn’t take nationals this year, but Burque slam is still stronger and more energetic then ever. On Tuesday, Aug. 19, slam poets, musicians, authors and fans will gather at
One Up for the release party for A Bigger Boat and a boatload of entertainment: Le Chat Lunatique, a "cover" slam, a live DJ, Basement Film screenings, prizes, an open mic and more. Get there by 8 p.m. to ensure you don’t miss a thing.
