Bowling For Pets!

If that headline conjured up images of a 12-pound bowling ball striking a helpless tabby disguised as a bowling pin, get your mind out of the “gutter” and head to Lucky 66 Bowl (6132 Fourth Street NW) this Sunday for a really cool little event. From 3 to 6 p.m., bowl and raise money to help New Mexico Animal Friends find loving homes for their homeless dogs and cats. Grab some “spare” friends and register at 3 p.m., while all the bowling madness startsz at 4 p.m. Call 345-2506 for more info.

Blackout for Earth Hour

I hope you don’t have a show to watch this Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. If so, you better get yourself a reliable recording device as you would be snubbing “Earth Hour,” or an internationally recognized time as many prominent businesses and homes all around the world shut their lights off for one hour to raise awareness on global warming. Can’t think of anything fun to do in that hour without your trusty technology? Hyde Memorial State Park in Santa Fe (740 Hyde Park Road) and the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park here in Albuquerque (2901 Candelaria NW) are both sponsoring night sky presentations to coincide with Earth Hour. Both events start at 8 p.m. and will feature some pretty impressive views of constellations. Sounds like a perfect excuse for a cheap romantic date. The goal this year is one billion participants so don’t be the one person to let it fall short! For more information visit earthhourus.org.
