I’m thrilled to note that the city is dedicating a sculpture to its gay community this year. That makes Albuquerque the second in the nation to offer respect to its LGBT citizens in this way, according to a news release. The first was NYC.

On Thursday, June 11, head out to Morningside Park to witness the memorial’s ceremony, featuring such bigwigs as: Mayor Martin Chavez, State Sen. Cisco McSorley, and Councilors Rey Garduño and Isaac Benton. The dedication begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a 6:30 p.m. candlelight vigil and a 9 p.m. party at the Albuquerque Social Club.
