I am riding in a car through the mountains with two women and their younger brother. We are trying to discover evidence of his abuse. I hum the bass notes of various jazz tunes while I watch an led meter on the dash that gauges his reaction. In this way I am able to identify a haunting jazz tune recorded by ‘Josephine’, the sax virtuoso, that is the key to the mystery. We find the original tape and play it as the boy writhes in the agony of his painful recollections.
