After almost losing its startup cash, it looks like the Queer Resource Center that students have been fighting for at UNM will be funded after all. According to this article, of the university’s 16 peer institutions, 12 have similar centers. New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, N.M., (population: 95,000) boasts a Sexual and Gender Diversity Resource Center. The Queer Straight Alliance at UNM is increasing LGBT visibility on campus, by putting together showcases and events.
