Yes, it’s Towel Day. “What the hell is Towel Day?” you may ask. Well, it’s the annual celebration of author Douglas Adams and all things Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy -ish. You are required to carry a towel with you all day in his honor—a towel being, “about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have.” To find out more of what this obsure holiday entails, log on to the official Towel Day website. There are loads of events happening around the world as well as a bunch of free giveaways. The only semi-local event I noticed, however, was this: “At Capital High School in Santa Fe, NM, Mrs. Gunter’s 10 th Grade English AP class will be celebrating Towel Day by dressing in a robe, pj’s and of course carrying a towel! They will be having a ‘bring your favorite cereal’ breakfast while partaking in a Vogon Poetry slam.” Awesome.
