Two Albuquerque spawned poetry journals are celebrating their inaugural publications at Alamosa Books, 8810 Holly NE, Ste. D on Sunday at from 2-5 p.m. The event is free. New Mexico poets featured in both magazines will be reading, and will include: Lisa Gill, Marilyn Stablein, Mitch Rayes, E.A. “Tony” Mares, Ken Gurney, Dale Harris, Gary Brower, Richard Vargas, John Macker and Mary McGinnis and Amalio Madueño. If time permits there will be an open mic session. Upski coming to Bookworks Former graffiti writer and current political activist William “Upski” Wimsatt is coming to Bookworks, 4022 Rio Grande, on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. to promote his new book Please Don’t Bomb the Suburbs , a follow-up to his Bomb the Suburbs.
