At the May 3 meeting, Council President Michael Cadigan moved yet another vote on extending Paseo del Norte through the Petroglyph National Monument as required by an agreement with Gov. Bill Richardson to allocate over $3 million to the project. But Councilor Brad Winter moved for a two-week deferral.

A 90-day moratorium on new adult businesses passed unanimously, as did a bill creating a nine-member Environmental Planning Commission with one member from each district.

Councilor Miguel Gomez’s effort to override Mayor Martin Chavez’s veto of money for Albuquerque Partnership failed to reach the 6-3 majority needed. Albuquerque Partnership, a nonprofit that works with neighborhood groups on substance abuse prevention and other community-related issues, has a lawsuit pending against the city.
