La Cucaracha creator Lalo Alcaraz might not have known how gigantic his comic strip would eventually become when he first penned it nine years ago. Appearing in more than 75 newspapers across the country (including the cover of this week’s Alibi ), La Cucaracha is singular in that it integrates a heavy dose of politically charged content with a generous helping of Latino culture. Alcaraz will be appearing as the keynote speaker during the second annual Presidential Luminaria Awards and Diversity Celebration Fundraising Dinner today at 6 p.m. at Sandia Resort and Casino (30 Rainbow NE).
