Michael King Memorial AIDS Walk

An AIDS walk has been absent from the Duke City for the better part of three years, but rescuing it from the jaws of extinction are the brave heroes in Albuquerque Pride. On Saturday, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. at Highland High School (4700 Coal SE), walk a mile in the Michael King Memorial AIDS Walk to benefit the Joe and Jean Travis HIV/AIDS Food Bank. The brand-new, privately funded food bank aims to become an entire resource center for HIV/AIDS after funding cuts by the state have crippled resources. Accompanying you on your travels are DJ Stitch, local dance troupe Throb and AIDS memorial quilt creator Cleve Jones. For more information and to register as an individual or as a team, visit abqpride.com. (Adam Fox)
