Into Eternity Panel Discussion

The world is safe, secure and rapture-free, at least for another five months. While humankind gets wrapped up in fantastical end of days tales, it’s easy to ignore the real and equally scary stuff outside our front door. Into Eternity is a documentary showing at Guild Cinema (3405 Central NE) that explores the storage of nuclear waste in the Onkalo storage facility, supposedly rendered safe for at least 100,000 years. Following the film is a panel discussion with Nuclear Waste Program Director Don Hancock from the Southwest Research and Information Center, Janet Greenwald from the Citizens for Alternatives to Radioactive Dumping, and M. Richard "Rip" Anderson (formerly of Sandia National Laboratories). The discussion will be moderated by "New Mexico in Focus" host and Alibi columnist Gene Grant. Admission is $7, or $5 for students and seniors, which includes the film and discussion. Film shows Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5 at 1 p.m. Panel discussion follows Saturday’s screening.
