As those who know and love it are fully aware, the fourth season of ”True Blood”—an HBO series created by Alan Ball and based on Charlaine Harris The Southern Vampire Mysteries series—premieres on Sunday night. The show takes place in the fictional North Louisiana town of Bon Temps, an old, mossy place inhabited by a host of supernatural beings. (My fondness for the show is particularly strong due to the fact that I grew up somewhere near Bon Temps, and the characters are always mentioning and visiting places that I know very well. When they do it makes me squeal/chuckle.) The show is sexy, bloody, sad and funny all at once. It’s also cool, and adding to its coolness this season is a duet between Nick Cave and Neko Case in the premiere. See, every “True Blood” episode is named after a song in that episode. Season four’s premiere was titled “She’s Not There” after the ‘60s Zombies classic. Ideas were tossed around regarding accompanying tunage, and somehow the show’s music supervisor arranged for Cave and Case—both “True Blood” fans—to cover the song together. The track will be available for download after the show airs on Sunday. Listen to it now here.
