As you know, our nation is currently suffering from a shortage of flu vaccines. Depending on the harshness of the looming flu season, tens of thousands of seniors, kids and sick people could die due to the shortage. During the Oct. 13 presidential debate in Tempe, Arizona, President Bush said, “My call to our fellow Americans is if you’re healthy, if you’re younger, don’t get a flu shot this year. … I haven’t gotten a flu shot, and I don’t intend to because I want to make sure those who are most vulnerable get treated.”
According to a recent article in the Albuquerque Tribune, in an apparent effort to prove to her detractors that she's her own woman and never bends to the will of her party's leadership, the 43-year-old Wilson decided use her position in Congress to—yep, that's right—get herself a coveted flu shot. She's no narrow-minded partisan. Not Wilson. When it comes to looking out for herself at the expense of children, the elderly and the sick, Wilson is more than willing to think outside the Republican box.
