LGBT organizations (that’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender), activists, families and allies will rally at the Santa Fe Roundhouse to demand equal rights for homosexuals on Monday, March 14. The rally will demonstrate to our legislators, media and the public that because the state will not officially recognize same-sex relationships, there are still many basic rights which are denied to homosexual couples. The rally starts at 9:30 a.m. and continues throughout the day. Events include a silent procession through the Roundhouse, speakers, free food, candle light vigils and direct actions. On a side note, James Maestas, the young man who was severely beaten by a gang of homophobic dirtbags in Santa Fe last week, remains in critical condition. A fund has been set up to help the Maestas family pay for some of James’ medical bills. Donations can be sent to the “Love Conquers Hate Fund” P.O. Box 25683, Albuquerque, N.M. 87125.
