After a bye-week the University of New Mexico’s football squad looks to maintain its winning-record against Lynchburg,Virginia’s Liberty University. UNM has outscored opponents by an average of six points throughout three games this season; partially due to an unimpressive performance in week two. However, with struggles on both sides of the field, UNM gave fifth-ranked Wisconsin a run during the first half before falling in the second.

Be that as it may, the team continues to rebuild under head coach, Bob Davie, and this week should prove to be nothing short of amazing. The Lobos (2-1) are favored by seven points, according to ESPN.

Last season the Lobos gave up an average of 348 total yards throughout the first 3 games and generated 396 themselves. And although the concluding seven-game losing streak to end the season lingers, the hope for a rebound seems almost inevitable. UNM silenced its rival, the New Mexico State Aggies in a 42-25 blowout behind Ahmari Davis’ 4 rushing touchdowns in addition to 110 rushing yards and a score from senior, Tyrone Owens.

Last season UNM was also outscored 382-248 in total points, while allowing 4,776 yards of total offense as opposed to 4,314 yards of its own.

However, with the bye-week out of the way, the Lobos have the talent to continue toward a winning-season and another run at a bowl-game. So between fans, alumni and anyone interested in football (and tailgating), Saturday’s match-up will not disappoint.
