Like the Matrix, “Nirvana is impossible to define directly; it can only be experienced or realized.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nirvana Fortunately, fellow heads on the venerable DroneOn mailing list http://lists.quartzcity.net/mailman/listinfo/droneon turned me on to this brilliant little handheld device that compacts the eternal goal of Buddhism itself into a colorful made-in-China plastic case (not unlike the classic Regency TR-1 transistor radio ripped off by Apple http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4265374.stm for its defunct iPod mini). The Buddha Machine is “an ‘instant’ sound installation” http://www.disquiet.com/fm3buddha.html designed by electronic musicians FM3 http://www.fm3.com.cn to deliver one of nine selectable onboard drone loops until the AA batteries run out. At last a toy my two-year-old and I can enjoy equally.
