Back in 2002, Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks decided to start writing a play a day for a year. At the end of 12 months, she’d created a moving play cycle that examines the artistic life with intelligence and wit. This week, VSA Arts New Mexico is taking part in a national celebration of that cycle. Various regional companies—including In Strange Company, Equilibrium Theater Company, The Magic Lizards Theater Company, Mother Road Theatre Company, Repertoire Soul Noir Theatre Company and OmniRootZ Theater Company—will feature three interpretations of seven short plays by Parks. These shows are free, so come on down. VSA Arts New Mexico is located at 4904 Fourth Street NW. The performances run tonight at 8 p.m. and tomorrow night at 6 p.m. For details, call 345-2872 or go to VSA’s website.
