While slam poetry is an artistic mainstay in the Duke City, we’ve been ignored for far too long when it comes to the rest of the word-spitting world. Now Albuquerque can join the ranks of 42 other cities in having its very own nationally recognized Poet Laureate during an announcement ceremony at the Main Library (501 Copper NW) on Saturday. Hear readings from Santa Fe Poet Laureate Joan Logghe and Centennial Poet Levi Romero. The inaugural Albuquerque Poet Laureate will be revealed at the event. For more, visit abqpoetlaureate.org.
