Doughty A most common argument against the Hollywooding of New Mexico is that the film industry uses us only for below-the-line gigs. Will big-time moviemakers ever appreciate our local creative talent?An even better question is: Will we ever appreciate our local creative talent? Gov. Bill Richardson announced yesterday a call for films for the 2010 NM Filmmakers Showcase. The deadline is Thursday, April 22, and it’s open to anyone in the state. Last year, there were more than 70 participants. The movies will screen at Guild Cinema on May 13-16. Pros will come evaluate the films, and there will be winners.But the REAL winners … Just kidding.
