This breaking news just in: Belynn Sharp got the scholarship. Way to go, Belynn!

Belynn Sharp, Texico, was awarded the New Mexico Cattle Growers’ Association’s (NMCGA’s) Young Cattlemen’s Leadership Committee (YCLC) Scholarship at the Association’s recent annual meeting.

“We are glad to be able to help Belynn further her education, and look forward to hearing great things about her in the future,” said Boe Lopez, YCLC Chariman, Springer.

Sharp is a senior at Texico High School. After graduation, she plans to attend West Texas A&M University to pursue a Business degree. While in high school, she has been active in cheerleading, FFA and 4-H. She has served as a State 4-H Diplomat and State 4-H Treasurer, and held several offices in her local 4-H club. In FFA, she has served as Chapter and District FFA sentinel, as well as showing animals. She is also a member of Texico’s State Champion Cheerleading team.

“By helping young people like Belynn, we are strengthening the future of our industry,” said Bert Ancell, NMCGA President, Bell Ranch. “We wish her the best as she continues her education.”

The NMCGA has represented the beef industry in New Mexico and the West since 1914 and has members in all 33 of the state’s counties as well as some 14 other states. The Association participates in venues necessary to protect beef producers and private property rights including litigation, state and federal legislation and regulatory affairs.
