Bob Dylan Is A Genius

After a horrendously awful show last year at Tingley Coliseum, Master Bob completely redeemed himself last night at the Journal Pavilion. Hard to believe this was exactly the same band that put out that lackluster performance a year ago last April.

This time around, they looked sharp (matching suits!) and sounded even sharper. The song selection was nice, too. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him play “I Believe in You” live. Love that song. Great seeing Bob playing guitar again, too, even if it was only for a few songs. He was in good voice as well. I really like the way his singing has transformed into a bluesy, shot-to-hell, old man croak. Fits those songs perfectly.

I hear a lot of whining about how lame the Journal Pavilion is. Yeah, eight dollar cups of Bud Light are tough to take, but the venue’s sound is actually pretty decent for an outdoor venue. Love those grass seats, too. I think it was during a beautifully rearranged “It’s Alright Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” that an owl (yes, an actual owl) soared out over the crowd and headed east toward the mountains. Was that planned? Do they travel with a tour bus full of caged owls?

Weird!
