We hit up “Bukowsica!” last night at Rodey Theatre, and man was it funny. I’m a Buk fan, but that’s not really a good reason to see this thing. If you want to learn about this nasty ol’ poet, read a book or something. If you want to laugh your ass off (with foreknowledge of Buk or not) at crass, gnarly jokes and shocking musical numbers, check it out tonight or tomorrow night at 8 p.m. The performers of the Sacred Angel Fist Circle of Note Gang from Los Angeles are really spot-on—great singers, manically comedic. It’s exactly the right kind of theater for a non-theater person like myself, quickly paced with most of it going down pretty easy.
