St. Pete’s motivations were probably less than pure, but his decision to ditch his support for the Iraq war could still have positive consequences. Believe it or not, Republicans, of all people, seem to slowly be coming to their senses. Of course, the crazies who pushed hardest for this war on the front end will see our entire species annihilated before they back down from promoting this disaster. But a certain percentage of the population always has to be written off as psychopathic. We can’t do anything about those people. The sane and reasonable, though, eventually come around when the evidence becomes indisputable. Now might be the moment when the tide finally turns, when the sleepers finally wake up and smell the napalm.
