Just got the bad news from Damon’s Fine Cuisine (which started as Al Vincenzo’s pizzeria, then morphed into Vincenzo’s Fine Cuisine, before settling on Damon’s Fine Cuisine.

Three incarnations of one restaurant at 1435 Eubank NE, 332-9300) in this e-mail:

"Damon’s Fine Cuisine will be closing on July 15, 2007. We greatly appreciate the patronage, friendship, and support that we have received from you over the past two years. Unfortunately, our current location is not providing the customer growth opportunities necessary to support continued operations. We hope you will join us for one last dining experience.

[…] We will be open for dinner from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m., Monday thru Saturday, with the final day of business scheduled for July 14 th. From now until then, all bottles of wine will be sold at ½ price.

We also want you to know that we are considering different location options and will communicate with you via e-mail in the future if we decide to re-open in a different location. In addition, Damon is available as a personal Chef in home, for banquets, and for catering events. Please call him directly at 505-980-4485 for additional information.

Warm Regards,

Damon Andres Flores, Head Chef/Owner

Paul Flores, Owner"

Interesting. Sure, the fine-dining-in-a-strip-mall-thing is pretty weird, but places like Le Cafe Miche have managed just fine in similar situations. What do you think? Do they have what it takes to make it work someplace else?
