Drinking For Literacy

Here at the Alibi , we know how to get down—with old books, big words and literary friends. (Reading party, woo!)

A couple weekends ago, we got behind the bar at O’Niell’s and begged for tips that would go to the
New Mexico Coalition for Literacy. The organization helps others in the state teach adults how to read.

Arts and Lit Editor (and resident words queen) Erin Adair-Hodges also put together a flash-fiction reading of those 119-word stories people submitted for our
annual contest. We raised $561 that weekend for the coalition.

After a couple beers and many delicious appetizers (some of which he stuffed in his pockets), Staff Writer Simon McCormack remembered to start filming. And now, after many more beers and a couple of weeks, I’m remembering to post the resulting videos.

Cheers! To reading!
