Free Nicotine!

Well, free nicotine patches.

The State of New Mexico is on a mission to get you to stop smoking. First the Legislature makes smoking in bars illegal (effective June 15), and now the Department of Health is dangling anti-smoking paraphernalia in front of you–in the form of complimentary nicotine patches, lozenges and gum–if you enroll in the "Quit for Life" program.

If you want to take advantage, call (800) QUIT NOW (784-8669), the state’s tobacco help line. You can talk to a free "quit coach" and get a free "quit plan" (along with a free "quit guide"). Service is in English and Spanish, and the line’s open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

If you want to find out more about the new smoking ban, call (877) 473-6624.
