“For a variety of family and personal reasons,” Frank Sedillo, Metropolitan Court Judge, has decided to withdraw as a candidate for the 2nd Judicial District Family Court Judge position. This comes from a letter addressed to Secretary of State Mary Herrera. He would have been going up against
Elizabeth Whitefield in the June 3 primary.

UNM medical student Amanda Lo called to say the
Bodies Human exhibit in Coronado Mall will close early. Lynx Exhibits is packing up its unclaimed Taiwanese cadavers tomorrow.

New Mexico’s new driver’s licenses will have a more clear marking showing whether someone is an organ donor.

Lt. Gov. Diane Denish is criticizing Sen. Pete Domenici for not supporting the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, according to a news release. Republicans managed to
filibuster the bill and prevent it from coming to a vote. As it stands, a plaintiff must seek restitution 180 days after unfair pay practices begin. The bill would have restarted that clock after each paycheck. “We know that, nationwide, woman earn only 77 cents to every dollar that men earn,” Denish said. “The Republicans’ partisan action may help them among certain special interests, but it did so by harming workers.”
