Democrat Al Franken is 50 votes ahead in the unofficial Minnesota Senate election recount. There are still more than a thousand absentee ballots that both candidates want counted. But Franken is expected to benefit if most of those are added to the final count. Franken’s opponent, Sen. Norm Coleman is doing some bitching, but things look good right now for a Franken victory. That would mean the Democrats would pick up another seat in the Senate, increasing their nearly filibuster-proof majority.
