::Making Grown Men Cry Since 1992

Got myself down to Marble Brewery finally this weekend. Three of us went in on a beer flight—little glasses of all 10 beers available right now. This is among the top places in town to get beer. I’d even go so far as to say it’s now my No. 1.I found myself smacking my lips over types of beers I usually despise. Summer ales and other light beers went down easy. While playing Operation (which makes for a really great drinking game), I found four brews in particular that will ring in my ears, siren-like next weekend, calling me back to Marble. They are, in order: 4) Wildflower Wheat : Painted in the menu as “An unfiltered American Wheat Ale accented with New Mexico wildflower honey.” Balanced flavor here. The honey is prominent, not sweet, and disappears quickly from your mouth. 3) Hefeweizen : Marble’s not messing around about the “notes of banana and clove.” The clove bites first for me. This is potentially the best hef in town. 2) Knuckle Down Brown : I love a good brown. Even, sometimes, a bad brown. This one is nutty in the best way—and fully hearty. 1) Oatmeal Stout : I order this wherever I can. Marble’s is the richest I’ve ever had. The makers describe it best as having “an intense espresso like flavor and creamy mouth feel.”Please re-enjoy Jessica Cassyle Carr’s photo essay on Marble. Then ditch out of work early and get yourself down there. (111 Marble NW, just north of Downtown. Opens at 3 p.m. most days.)
