The health care industry is promising to cut $2 trillion dollars in costs over the next 10 years. If it does that, the cash it saves could be used to insure some of the 50 million Americans without health care coverage.Progressives are still pushing for a one-payer system, or a comparable proposal that would guarantee everyone health care, but the industry’s push for reform is refreshing. Economist Paul Krugman agrees.
