Yesterday (and the day before?), a few police officers were hanging out underneath the Gizmo’s overhang. Just there. All day. I couldn’t figure out what they were up to, but it sure put a damper on my jaywalking fun.By the afternoon, I’d figured it out. These officers are popping people who pause in the lane-wide median on Central in the Downtown area.I’m not going to lie. I use that median every day to exit the car when I get dropped off in the morning and to unload band equipment.So this morning, even though I didn’t see any police hovering in Gizmo’s shadow, I jumped out of the car my husband was driving on the street corner. He zoomed away. And sure enough, a cop emerged from where he was lurking between two cars. There was no trouble, but I watched another lurking officer write someone up for pausing in the median. Fair warning.
