Oh baby, it’s been a bittersweet growing season without Jennifer James. For all the Midwestern winter comforts she warmed us with, late summer, when the valley is in a glut of ephemeral crops like peaches and tomatoes, was when Graze hit its highest notes. Restaurant Jennifer James was the first Albuquerque restaurant to really dig into locally-sourced foods. Up through the Graze years, her dishes contained blood lines that, in some cases, hooked back into hundreds of years’ worth of New Mexico soil. Complain all you want about prices. Nobody was doing what she was doing then.In "not full circle, but close enough" news, Jennifer James is back in town and back in her own element, cooking up a heap of local ingredients at tomorrow’s Los Ranchos Growers’ Market. Let her know you miss her like nectarines in January. Showtime is somewhere between 7 and 11 a.m. at 6718 Rio Grande NW (next to the tennis courts and fire department).
