You clicked on this blog because you’ve got the eternal munchies for celeb news, right? Well, there is none here. The headline was a suckerpunch. Sucker.Celebrities are America’s royalty, pretty figureheads whose lives we watch with hungry self-loathing. Maybe I just mean me. I’ve been known to scan an article or two about Britney’s underpants (or lack thereof). I would not, however, buy clothing worn on my favorite TV show . I think it’s a little creepy. I’m horribly naive though, and maybe no one else is surprised. But you can go to ABC’s website and purchase items you saw used or worn on the channel’s shows by the stars. Just to be clear, I don’t mean the actual dress your favorite “Desperate Housewives” actress wore, but the mass-produced version. To me, that’s even creepier. We’re crazy about famous folks. We want to be just like them, down to the tupperware they use and the shade of lipstick on their pouts. Product placement’s taking a more direct route, aiming straight for our insecurities.
