Many people were off work today for Veterans Day—which is officially tomorrow. Remember to give your favorite Vet a hug and a big thank you!

Recycle Santa Fe Art Festival —Check out works by over fifty artists who use a minimum of 75 percent recycled materials at El Museo Cultural (1615 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe) starting tonight through Sunday, Nov. 12. Visit their website for more info.

The Music of the Night D.C. Anderson, from the cast of the touring Broadway masterpiece The Phantom of the Opera , will be giving a free cabaret performance at Theatre X at 11 p.m. tonight.

Wordspace —If you haven’t heard of Joe Hayes, you are totally missing out. He spoke at my high school graduation, which means he told an awesome fable featuring our favorite Southwestern antihero: coyote. Hayes and his poet friend, Bobby Byrd, will be giving a performance of the spoken word at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Outpost Performance Space (210 Yale SE). It’s $7 for nonmembers and $5 for members—and totally worth it.

In Defense of Spiders Another great event by our friends at ¡Explora!. Join in the live courtroom drama where the audience participates and determines the outcome … of what? Must have to do with spiders. The theater performance takes place at 1:15 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, and it free with admission.

Dance DJ Girl, Dance —The fantastic DJ Miss Ginger and Santa Fe’s DJ Feathericci will be spinning hip-hop, electro, funk and ’80s at the Carom Club from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11. It’s 21-and-over only and there’s no cover.
