Xeric perennials, terrorism, solar power, El Prez and fine photographic art. It’s good to be alive and active here in Burque. (Santa, too!)

The workshop will cover the basics about preparing the soil for xeric plants and how much water xeric plants need. 856-7641.

Happy Birthday, Mr. President— Our fine Commander-in-Chief is turning 60 on July 6, and artist Sheryl Oring wants to wish him a happy one by helping Americans across the nation send little bundles of birthday wishes during her Birthday Project . She’ll be at the Flea Market at EXPO New Mexico this Sunday, June 25, taking diction via typewriter from anyone with a birthday message to El Prez. Hallmark’s got nothing on this. Get more info about the project on NPR.

Solar Panel Field Trip— No school buses or sack lunches for this field trip. That is, unless you want them. The New Mexico Solar Energy Association is hosting an excursion to a home with a 10 kW wind generator located just 25 miles outside of Albuquerque. Meet at the southwest corner of the Smith’s parking lot at Tramway and Central at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, to get into the carpool. It’s open to all and free.
