Now if only we could get Snape to play mud volleyball ...

If you can’t tell from the heat, it’s officially summer as of 6:06 p.m. yesterday, and our city’s got a sweltry spattering of events this weekend to celebrate (albeit not officially). Here are the ones that slipped through our hot little fingers this week.

Friday … Tonight!

The Watoto Children’s Choir from Africa holds a free concert at 7 p.m. tonight at the Lobo Theater.

FUSION Theatre Company presents the “The Seven: No Regrets” this weekend only at the Cell Theatre (700 Fist Street NW). Out of 353 submissions from 39 states and six countries, seven short plays were chosen. Runs tonight and tomorrow at 8 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets cost $20, except for the “Pay What You Wish” matinee on Sunday. Call the box office at 766-9412 to make reservations soon, as the event is anticipated to sell out.

Saturday

The Neighborhood Market runs from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. today at Gold between Seventh and Eighth Streets (behind the Flying Star). Running once a month until Oct. 20, the Market features arts and crafts, antiques, workshops, entertainment and food. For a list of vendors and events, visit their website.

Mud Volleyball is today! Head down to the South Valley after 9 a.m. tomorrow to watch people get dirty.

Young Women United holds a huge yard sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Scout for furniture, baby clothes, somputer equipment, bicycles and more at 120 Morningside NE. Call 831-8930 for more info.

The New Mexico Herb Growers Association hosts the 2 nd NM Herbal Expo today from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (2401 12 th Street NW). Experts will discuss the issues involved with herb production, processing, marketing and regulation, along with potential policies that may limit or affect the availability of herbs and herbal medicines.
