The weather‘s supposed to be great this weekend (great in New Mexico, of course, includes the possibility of afternoon showers). So get outside, but don’t stay there too long. Instead, go to one of these events.

Pista Sa Nayon– Tonight’s Filipino festival kicks off at the UNM Continuing Education Building (1634 University NE) with a food tasting from 5 to 7 p.m. For $1 per item, you can stuff yourself on pancit, chicken adobo, lumpia and desserts. Then, once your stomach’s bulging, sit back and enjoy a show by the Filipino performing arts program ($5). Come for one or stay for both. All proceeds go to the Filipino American Foundation Scholarship.

The Real Dirt on Farmer John — This award-winning documentary premieres tonight at 8 p.m. on Old Town Plaza. Chronicled over the course of 25 years, Farmer John is "an outrageous artist, a maverick environmentalist, a homespun rebel, a pink boa-wearing eccentric, a playful provocateur" and a man who revolutionized his family farm, showing what it means to love the land and have it love you back. Free!

"Hollywood’s Avoidance of Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust"– Dr. Thomas A. Idinopulos, professor of comparative religious studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, presents his paper at 7 p.m. tonight at the New Mexico Holocaust and Intolerance Museum (415 Central NW). Idinopulos has been a guest speaker around the world and has published several books. Space is limited, so please call 247-0606 to make reservations. A $5 donation to the museum is suggested.
