Hum … there seems to be quite a few interesting things happening in Santa Fe this weekend. There’s always plenty going on here in the Duke City, why not head up to Santa town for a change? You don’t have to, but it’s not a bad idea to get out of the big city every once-in-a-while.

Rhythmic Soul’s Last Stand— The host of what was the hottest dance night in Santa Fe at the now empty Paramount night club, DJ Adam Gibbons, is moving to Boston. It seems he has quite the thing going for him there with a monthly full moon, multicultural and socially conscious dance event called Soul Revival that’s been running for 12 years. Good on you, DJ Adam. To say good-bye, DJ Adam and guests DJ King Britt and DJ Brent Crampton will be spinning an mix of deep, soulful Afro-Latin house at the Lodge at Santa Fe (750 St. Francis Drive). The doors open at 10 p.m. and close at 2 a.m. It’s $8 to get in before 11:30 p.m. and $10 after.

Tattooed People— Body modifications aren’t just the latest rebellious teenage trend. Tattoos and the like have been around as long a people have, and Chris Rainier’s book, Ancient Marks: The Sacred Origins of Tattooing and Body Markings , displays just that . Rainier is going to be signing his book at the Photo-eye Bookstore (370 Garcia Street, Santa Fe) from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, and will give a talk around 1 p.m. Melanie, the bookstore and online gallery coordinator, thinks there may be a lot of tattooed people present—highly likely.

French Wine and O’Keeffe— Pour yourself a glass and listen to Francois Belle of the French Paradox Collection muse about the wonderful world of fermented grapes. The event takes place at the patio of the O’Keeffe Café (217 Johnson Street, Santa Fe) from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 23. The $25 cover includes appetizers and wine. Call ahead to ensure a spot.
