Amy’s out of town for Thanksgiving, happily leaving me (her new intern) and all her work behind. That’s fine, that’s just dandy. She’s the one missing out on all the fun this weekend … maybe.

Friday, Nov. 16

Tonight, bring all your best suggestions to The Box Performance Space (1025 Lomas NW) for improv comics Joe Carne and Cody Dove to act out. You know you want this. The show starts at 9 p.m. Call 400-1848 for more info.

Get your healthy dose of dark, immigrant comedy with German Theatre Abroad’s one-off performance of
Start Up , a cross-country-in-a-tricked-out-school-bus play by the renowned, and very German, Roland Schimmelpfennig. The show starts at 6 p.m. at the Fusion Theater Company‘s rehearsal space (1501 12 th Street NW). Tickets are $15 for students and seniors, $20 for everyone else. For info, call 766-9412.

We don’t know how it happened, but it did. Our heads-up for this week’s Transgender Day of Remembrance events was lost in e-mail world and missed the print edition entirely. It’s definitly not a B-list event. The Metropolitan Community Church of Albuquerque (1103 Texas NE) is holding an awareness workshop and Forum at 2 p.m. on Saturday and an Interfaith Service at 6 p.m. on Sunday evening. For more info, call Stephani at 401-4186.

Saturday, Nov. 17

What are you doing for World Children’s Day? Nothing? Then bring the kids out to the Convention center to see the family-friendly rap star II Face throw down against child poverty in a benefit concert for the Ronald McDonald’s House Charities of New Mexico. Festivities include carnival games, art projects, face-paining and more. The fun starts at 11 a.m. and runs through 4 p.m.

Sunday, Nov. 18

Bring an empty stomach to The Stove Gallery (114 Morningside NE) for a lovely waffle breakfast with four of Burque’s finest noise bands. Mama Coma, Ipytor Machislav, Father of the Flood and Occasional Detroit promise to make this the loudest breakfast you’ve ever had. Those who give donations won’t explode.
