A play about crashing and burning, a benefit for the buildings affected by the Golden West fire and monkeys on the hunt for easter knickknacks all not mentioned in our Alibi Picks. Until Now!

Wake Up and Smell the Coffee

The press release for Eric Bogosian’s Wake Up and Smell the Coffee informs me that the play is "a meditation on making it to the top of the ladder, falling off the ladder and on the exhilarating thrill of the ultimate crash and burn." I wonder if there’s an actual ladder. The show starts at 8 p.m. at the Cell Theatre today and tomorrow. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 766-9412.

El Rey et al Benefit

Come see a smorgasbord of bands, DJs and go-go dancers at the newly re-opened El Rey theater on Saturday. The show starts at 6 p.m. and all the proceeds from the event will benefit the Golden West, El Rey and Launchpad. You’ve gotta be 21-or-over to get down.

Easter Egg Hunt at the Zoo

Folks can gather round and watch various Rio Grande Zoo inhabitants search for Easter-themed treats on Sunday. The animals-only Easter goodies hunt starts at 9 a.m.
