The line was huge at Antone’s but it turned out to be justified. Neko Case http://www.nekocase.com/ came on stage on time and started singing. Neko must have learned special from her affiliation with The New Pornographers http://www.thenewpornographers.com/, because there it was again, that feeling which is a reminder of the importance of live music.
Neko Case and her band played perhaps the best show of our short three-day trip. Antone’s http://www.antones.net/ is a music lover’s club, mostly known, I recall, for blues, but it always has a great lineup during SXSW. On the other hand, the drinks are expensive and the space is limited. Plus, it has one of those concrete floors that make my old-man back hurt.
Add Tacoma, Washington’s Neko Case to the list of bands that deserve your closer inspection, and her new album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood is wort buying.
