In the fun-filled high school days of my youth, I had a friend who wanted to memorize the first 100 digits of pi. No joke. I joined him in this endeavor. Did I mention “fun-filled”? I have another friend with some amount of pi tattooed on the inside of his lower lip. I repeat that I am not kidding. These days, I can only remember 12 digits. Check it: 3.14159265358. Yeah, baby. Enewaiz, Wikihow (my all time favorite site) has a listing for how to calculate pi by throwing long, thin, straight foods. Hot dogs are good. Otter Pops work, too. There’s also a bit on how to memorize pi . First step: There are 1.7 trillion known digits of pi. Get used to the idea that you’ll never memorize all of them YOU CRAZY NERD!Also, who knew there was a pi day? Celebrate pi on March 14 at 1:59 p.m. Eat pie or do a pi-mile run. I’m totally celebrating this year.
