National presidential polls by USA Today, Gallup, Zogby and ABC News have Sen. John McCain ahead of Barack Obama. The Arizona Senator got a big bounce from the Republican Convention last week, and many of the major polling organizations have him ahead, usually by statistically significant margins. There’s also evidence that Republicans are more excited about voting for John McCain than they were a week ago. McCain and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have drawn big crowds to their joint rallies, which could be a sign Palin is energizing supporters in a way McCain has been unable to do.
