Reasons To Smoke

Dang! Just when I quit smoking cigarettes, researchers come up with the theory that nicotine might actually have some benefits.

In addition to all the bad junk (which I’m sure you know about due to ceaseless educational advertisements), the white coats are testing nicotine because they think it might help with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

All you yellowing smokers have another reason not to quit. Excellent.

But check out this article on MSN. In addition to enumerating possible benefits, it reminds us of all the troubles.

I’m waiting for the study that asks: Which is worse? Smokes or Big Macs? While I will cling to my health-prompted vow, let’s just say there’s more to this business than anyone’s really sure about. I miss my cigs, but I like the idea of a future without a hole in my throat.

Still, the day someone invents a healthy cigarette that has no negative effects and supplies your recommended daily dosage of vitamin C, I’m there with bells on. Until then, it’s me and baby carrots for life.
